Bowback Mountain is a 12,356-foot peak in Montana’s Beartooth Mountains, located in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness within Custer National Forest. Among the tallest summits in the Beartooth range, it is tied with Beartooth Mountain as the 11th tallest peak in Montana. Its location in a federally protected wilderness places it within one of the state’s notably high and rugged mountain landscapes.
