Whitetail Peak is a 12,556-foot mountain in Montana’s Beartooth Mountains, within the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness of Custer National Forest. Among the tallest summits in the Beartooth range, it is the fifth-highest peak in the state. Its location in federally protected wilderness places it within one of Montana’s rugged high mountain landscapes, known for broad alpine terrain and prominent summits. The peak stands out chiefly for its elevation and for its place among Montana’s highest mountains, making it a notable landmark in the Beartooths.
