Circleville honors those who served in the Black Hawk and Indian Wars, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Viet Nam and later conflicts, and Iraq and the National Guard through extensive honor rolls of local veterans, with special remembrance for Francis Dalton Haycock, Leonard Harvey Peterson, and Gordon O. "Shorty" Fullmer, who died in service. It also affirms that freedom is not free with a poem reflecting on servicemen, battle deaths, grieving families, draped coffins, Arlington, and unmarked graves at sea.
