Blackwater Creek Preserve is a 1,993-acre conservation area near Plant City in northeast Hillsborough County, Florida, assembled in sections beginning in 1997. Formerly used for low-impact cattle grazing and silviculture, it was protected to safeguard the Blackwater Creek watershed, conserve habitat for native plants and animals, and offer outdoor recreation. Its roughly 6 miles of trails cross pine savannah, pine flatwoods, cypress domes, and riverine habitat along Blackwater Creek and another unnamed creek. Wildlife includes white-tailed deer, turkey, southern fox squirrels, gopher tortoises, dusky pigmy rattlesnakes, and Eastern bluebirds, while managers preserve its relatively primitive character through trail upkeep, prescribed burns, wildlife monitoring, and invasive-plant removal.
