The oldest portion of the inn was constructed about 1814, and the building was enlarged to its present size when Daniel Haycraft purchased it about 1820. Located on the Louisville-Nashville Turnpike, it became a popular stopping place for stagecoaches. Despite the coming of railroads and the resulting decline in stagecoach travel, the inn was still operating in 1884, and by 1917 it had become a private home. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
