Fenway Park, near Kenmore Square in Boston, has been the home of the Boston Red Sox since 1912 and is the oldest active ballpark in Major League Baseball. Built on a tight urban block, its irregular shape created distinctive features such as the Green Monster, the Triangle, and Pesky’s Pole, helping give it a long reputation as a hitters’ park. Rebuilt in 1934 and repeatedly updated afterward, it retained its essential form despite modernization and a failed replacement proposal. Beyond baseball, it has hosted football, concerts, other sports, and major public events, and remains a rare surviving jewel box ballpark and a Boston landmark.
