Kendrick Peak, also known as Kendrick Mountain, rises 10,425 feet in northern Arizona’s San Francisco volcanic field north of Flagstaff and ranks among the state’s highest summits. A lava dome formed roughly 2.7 to 1.4 million years ago, it consists mainly of dacite and rhyolite flows partly buried by andesite, making it one of Arizona’s notable dome volcanoes. The peak lies within the Kendrick Mountain Wilderness, jointly managed by Kaibab and Coconino National Forests. Its summit has hosted a fire lookout since the early 1900s, and three maintained trails reach the top. Wildfire has also marked its recent history, notably in 2000 and 2017.
