Confederate women piously ministered to wounded soldiers, soothing the last hours of those who died far from the objects of their tenderest love. Their domestic labors contributed much to supplying the wants of defenders in the field, their zealous faith in the cause shone as a guiding star undimmed by the darkest clouds of war, they endured every privation to which they were subjected, and their patriotism would teach their children to emulate the deeds of their sires.
