Mount Pisgah
Nature
Mount Pisgah in Winthrop, Maine, is a locally popular hiking mountain whose summit ranks as the fifth highest in Kennebec County. A loop using the Tower Trail and Blueberry Trail leads to the top, where a 60-foot Aermotor fire tower survives from the mountain’s long use as a lookout. The Maine Forest Service operated a fire lookout there from 1949 to 1992, and the tower remains open under the care of the Town of Winthrop and the Kennebec Land Trust. Its platform offers sweeping views from the Camden Hills to Mount Washington, and the mountain is also linked to Ezekiel Holmes, who lived there in the mid-19th century.
