German immigrants began settling in Lawrenceburgh in the 1830s, and in 1839 they formed a congregation. Like many other early church groups, they met in the old Methodist Episcopal Meeting House erected in 1821 on Walnut Street where the Liedertafel Hall now stands. For over 20 years, they rented halls around town for their services. In 1860, a permanent house of worship was constructed. In 1927, it became a lodge hall for the Fraternal Order of Eagles until 1976. In 1977, Peoples National Bank, now Star, acquired it and used it for storage. In 1992, it was converted to Zerbe Law Offices. The building is in the Greek Revival style and has a stone tablet in the gable.
