The Nipple is a 9,342-foot summit in the Sierra Nevada of eastern California, within the Mokelumne Wilderness on the boundary of Humboldt–Toiyabe and Eldorado national forests. Though not especially high in local relief, it rises distinctly above Upper Blue Lake and sits near Carson Pass and Round Top. Its north and east slopes drain toward the Carson River, while its south slope feeds the Mokelumne River through Middle, Blue, and Deer creeks. The Pacific Crest Trail crosses its southern side from California State Route 88. Its plainly descriptive name has been officially recognized by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names and appears in publications by at least 1899.
