Built in 1905 in Racine, Wisconsin, the Thomas P. Hardy House is an important early Frank Lloyd Wright design and a notable Prairie School home overlooking Lake Michigan. Wright shaped it closely to its steep bluff site, giving it a restrained stucco street front with an entry at the sidewalk, while opening the interior and lake side dramatically with vertical organization, a terrace below street level, and a two-story living room with balcony views. Its art glass windows and carefully placed glazing balance privacy with expansive water views. Restored to its original terra cotta exterior color in 2013–2015, it remains a private residence.
