Parkston Athletic Park was improved in 1938 by the City of Parkston and Works Progress Administration Project Number 2974. City officials connected with the project were Mayor W.A. Koehn and councilmen M. Hohenthaner, Fred Ceidel, H.K. Meisenhoelder, Edward E. Blum, J.J. Weidenbach, and Albert Fergen. The park designer was E.D. Carpentier.
