Isaac Shockey, born in 1858, and Sarah Jane Hilliard, born in 1862, married in 1882, left Illinois, and settled on this Texas site in 1885. They had thirteen children but lost three young daughters. Their homestead included a farm, house, barn, and six other buildings. Isaac died in 1931 and Sarah in 1947. Their daughter Rosa Ethyl Shockey married Edward Huffman in 1912, and they made their home on the same farm and had five children. Their youngest son Billy, a grandson of Isaac and Sarah Shockey, was born in 1931. In a 2001 interview, Billy recalled a great life on the farm, gathering potatoes, corn, and anything that would grow, which his father took to market in Dallas. The Huffman family moved away in 1948 and sold the homestead, which later became the site for the Solana business park.
