The men of Pomfret were honored for serving their country in struggles for liberty, justice, and humanity during the Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1783, the War of 1812 from 1812 to 1814, the war with Mexico in 1848, the Civil War from 1961 to 1865, the Spanish American War in 1898, and the World War from 1917 to 1919, and a tribute was also paid to the men and women of Pomfret, Connecticut, who served in the World War from 1917 to 1919.
