Probably built in the 1850s, this fine example of a rural Union church served a number of denominations in the Augusta community and also functioned as a schoolhouse in the community's early years. Over time, it evolved to its current appearance to meet the changing needs of the congregation, with features that include shiplap siding, double entry doors, Greek Revival trim and cornice details, Victorian-era shingled gable ends, and an early 20th century pyramidal steeple. It continues to serve the community as the site of annual homecoming observances.
