Brick Academy in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, is a Federal-style school building completed in 1809 for the growing Basking Ridge Classical School, which had existed since at least 1799. Closely tied to Rev. Robert Finley, the school expanded under his leadership and became known as a route to the College of New Jersey, later Princeton University. The name properly applies to the building and, after 1828, its corporation, not to the earlier school generally. After years in education, the building served civic uses including a public school and township offices. It later became a museum and headquarters of the Historical Society of the Somerset Hills and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
