Stewarts Creek Wildlife Management Area is a protected tract in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains in Carroll County encompassing 1,087 acres of steep, rugged terrain that climbs from about 1,580 feet to 2,955 feet near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Water shapes the area through five stream sections totaling 4.8 miles, including the headwaters of the North and South forks of Stewarts Creek. These streams support brook trout and run beside dense rhododendron thickets. Most of the land is forested with tulip poplar, yellow birch, oak, and hickory. Owned and maintained by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, it is open for recreation including hunting, trapping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and primitive camping.
