Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve

Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve is a protected area in the Northern Inner California Coast Ranges within the Blue Ridge Berryessa Natural Area and the University of California Natural Reserve System. Managed by the University of California, Davis, it lies west of Winters along Putah Creek near Monticello Dam. Its 258 hectares span elevations from about 300 to 2,500 feet across sedimentary terrain of sandstone and shale. The reserve includes chaparral and woodland, grasslands, blue oak woodland, riparian woodland, and intermittent streams, creating rich biodiversity with 108 bird species, eight amphibians, 18 reptiles, 43 mammals, and more than 290 plant species. It also supports research, education, and recreation.
