Turnage Drugstore was opened in 1905 by Wade S. Turnage, and over time it was known as Turnage-Clark Drugstore and later Turnage-Atkinson Drugstore. In 1926, Wade Turnage bought Mr. Atkinson's interest in the business and continued it as Turnage Drugstore until his death in 1952. In 1944, Wade Watkins Turnage, son of Wade S. Turnage, returned home after graduating from the Ole Miss School of Pharmacy, working as a pharmacist in Jackson, Mississippi, and serving as a sales representative for the Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Co., and became a partner in Turnage Drugstore until 1972. In 1962, after graduating from the Ole Miss School of Pharmacy, Binford W. Turnage, son of Wade W. Turnage, joined the staff and became owner of the store in 1972. Robert W. Turnage, who trained and received his Pharm.D from the Ole Miss School of Pharmacy in 1999, became the fourth-generation pharmacist in the Turnage family and the new owner of Turnage Drugstore Inc.
