Located at Camp Del Mar on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California, this military museum centers on the history of landing vehicles tracked used by the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and the Korean War. Housed in a Quonset hut-style building near the Assault Amphibian School Battalion Training Command, it features exhibits on amphibious warfare and six vintage LVT models. Its main theme is the service of the “Alligator” Marines, the crews and units tied to these tracked landing vehicles during major amphibious assaults in the Pacific and in Korea. In 1996, it received the Colonel John H. Magruder III Award from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
