Organized in 1901 by the Rev. H.G. Williams, this congregation began with 29 charter members as part of the Lyons Circuit. During its first year, it held prayer meetings in homes and preaching services in a brush arbor lighted by members' lanterns, while evangelists operated a Chapel Car on a railroad siding for weeks. In winter, the church and Sunday school moved to the schoolhouse. Its first sanctuary was erected in 1903, an educational building was added in 1958, and the present sanctuary was completed on the original church site and dedicated in 1966. In its first 70 years, the church had 34 pastors.
