Muhammad Ali, then Cassius Clay, trained at Chickasaw Park. He often wore old army boots and ran to and from his home at 3302 Grand Avenue, even before school in the mornings. After returning home to Louisville from the 1960 Rome Olympics, neighbors saw Ali run at this park wearing his Olympic garb and gold medal.
