Brundage Mountain, in Idaho’s Payette National Forest northwest of McCall, developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s to give local skiers a larger nearby resort. Financed by J.R. Simplot and shaped by Warren Brown and Olympian Corey Engen, it opened on November 23, 1961, with early lifts and trails laid out that summer. Over time it grew to 1,920 acres of lift-served terrain, with major lift upgrades expanding access and capacity. Known for abundant snowfall, broad views, and backcountry access, it also offers guided snowcat skiing and summer mountain biking. Recent ownership changes and investment have continued to expand facilities and development at the mountain.
