Tamarack Resort is a four-season mountain resort in west-central Idaho on West Mountain above Lake Cascade. Opened in 2004 after earlier stalled proposals under other names, it was notable as the first new destination ski resort built in North America in 23 years. The resort developed skiing, Nordic trails, golf, mountain biking, and a planned mixed-use village, but its growth was disrupted by bankruptcy, a shutdown in 2009, and foreclosure. Skiing resumed in 2010 under the Tamarack Municipal Association, and new investment beginning in 2018 helped restore terrain, improve facilities, and revive the golf course, reflecting both ambition and resilience.
