Brighton Township honored soldiers from the community who served in the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, and later U.S. military service. Those named include Col. Dan Gilson of the War of 1812; R. M. Nolcomb of the Mexican War; and many men who served in units including the 103rd O.V.I., 43rd O.V.I., 23rd O.V.I., 176th O.V.I., 7th O.V.I., 55th O.V.I., 1st O.V.L.A., 2nd O.V.C., 1st Conn. H.A., 166th O.V.I., 178th, 43rd H.L. Reg., 17th U.S.I., 166th I., and the U.S.N.
