Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a protected natural area in northern Los Angeles County on the rural west side of Antelope Valley, known for some of California’s most reliable spring displays of California poppies and other wildflowers. In its Mojave Desert setting, blooms usually peak from mid-February through mid-May, depending on winter and early spring rainfall, so the display varies with conditions. The land is maintained in a strictly natural state without watering or artificial stimulation, and grazing is excluded. Formerly used for sheep grazing, the reserve now also uses controlled fire to reduce brush and invasive species and offers trails for public access.
