Built in 1881, this structure first served as a woodshed for Freistadt’s original stone schoolhouses, one built in the 1850s and the other in 1873. One schoolhouse educated younger children in the Kleine Schule, while the other educated older children in the Grosse Schule. During long Wisconsin winters, wood-burning stoves in both schoolhouses provided the only source of heat. The woodshed was moved to the cemetery in 1928 for use during Sunday afternoon picnics and festivals. The stone schoolhouses remained in use until 1926 and were eventually torn down in 1929. In 2001, the structure was moved to this location to serve as a tool shed. Andrew Gonstead of Troop 80, Menomonee Falls, painted the building as part of his Eagle project.
