Grand Island Harbor Rear Range Light is a former lighthouse in Munising Township in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the surviving remnant of a range-light station first lit in 1868 to guide vessels into harbor. The original wooden front and rear lights deteriorated and were replaced in 1914 as part of a broader Great Lakes shift to steel-framed harbor lights. The present rear light, a 64-foot riveted steel conical tower with reused upper steelwork from Vidal Shoals near Sault Ste. Marie, is notable as one of the tallest such towers on the Great Lakes. Deactivated in 1969, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
