Lamar County's twentieth-century war veterans memorial is dedicated to all the men and women who served the country during the major wars of the twentieth century, honoring their unselfish service at home and in other parts of the world that helped preserve the liberty and freedom enjoyed by citizens of the United States. It remembers their sacrifices in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War, and also recognizes the continuing legacy of local veterans organizations including Leon Martin Post No. 25, later renamed Martin-Moore Post No. 25, and A. L. Auxiliary Unit No. 25.
