The 104th Illinois Infantry served in the 1st Brigade under Carlin, 1st Division under Johnson, 14th Army Corps under Palmer. Commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Hapeman, it reached General Hooker's command from Chattanooga soon after dark on November 24, 1863, then moved to Missionary Ridge by way of Rossville on the morning of November 25, 1863. Its loss was 21.
