The cornerstone of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church was laid on July 30, 1893, and the church was dedicated on September 16, 1894. Built at a cost of $7000, the building reflects the optimism of Davis during its lumbering boomtown years. A classic example of wood construction using virgin spruce timber, it has truss timbers sawed by the local Beaver Creek Lumber Company. Its bell tower houses a fifty-inch diameter cast bell, and the building retains its original stained glass windows. It was declared an Historic Landmark on November 16, 1986.
