Saint John's Lutheran Church was founded in 1877, and its original bell is preserved here. This was also the site of its first school, founded in 1932, where Paul G. Waschtilejwsky served as pastor and Edmund Nickel as teacher. The first school board included William F Sell as chairman, Rudolph Hubert as treasurer, Fred Stell as secretary, and George W. Sell as benefactor. The work is honored as done to the glory of God and in honor of the Christian men who labored with unwearied zeal for the Christian Day School, with Albert Firchau serving as pastor.
