John Littlejohn Cemetery is the burial place of John Littlejohn, an esteemed Methodist preacher who came to Russellville in 1822 and conducted camp meetings, services, and ministry throughout Logan County. While he was a sheriff in Virginia during the War of 1812, President James Madison entrusted him to protect the National Archives. The land was given by Marmaduke Beckwith Morton VIII. It is also the burial site of people who died during the 1835 cholera epidemic, many of whom were buried without markers, and of several founding fathers of Russellville. Their slaves were buried on the north end of the cemetery, and those graves were marked with fieldstones.
