Settlers from Germany and some from Bohemia established the first Catholic church in 1881. In 1904 it took the name St. Liborius, patron saint of Paderborn, Germany. The complex, built in 1923 for $30,000, followed a Spanish design from the first missionary priest. Oblate priests served from 1918 to 1979, diocesan priests from 1979 to 1989, and Benedictine sisters from 1928 to 1988. Boarder students were present from 1923 to 1959. Remodeling took place in 1959. In 1989, the parish had 300 parishioners and on July 2, 1989, it was dedicated as a tribute to the faith and sacrifice of its ancestors.
