Originally the brick store of Michael Carey in 1875, this site was later acquired by A.T. Bartlett and G. Fisher and became C. M. Morse’s Drug Store as well as the Fisher Hotel. San Mateo’s first telephone was installed here in 1883, and the first San Mateo Fire Department was organized here in 1887. The Strebel Building also stood here.
