Heap Steep Glacier lies in Wyoming’s northern Wind River Range, east of the Continental Divide, within the Fitzpatrick Wilderness of Shoshone National Forest. It is part of one of the largest concentrations of glaciers in the American Rocky Mountains and occupies a north-facing cirque below Sunbeam Peak. At the head of this high mountain basin, a large terminal moraine and a small proglacial lake lie beneath the ice, recording the glacier’s movement and meltwater.
