Battleship New Jersey served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and Lebanon. Its 16-inch-diameter projectiles had a range of 23 miles and weighed 1,900 pounds, with a powder charge of 540 pounds. The ship carried nine 16-inch guns in three triple turrets.
