Almost one-fourth of Bouquet's men were killed or wounded, while the number of Native losses remains unknown. Four days later, Bouquet reached Fort Pitt with supplies, the fort was reinforced, and civilians were escorted to safety at Fort Ligonier. Although victorious at Bushy Run, Bouquet had to rest his men and await reinforcements at Fort Pitt. In October 1764, he marched into what is now Ohio and demanded that the Natives accept British terms or face defeat, and they agreed, ending the war in the Ohio River Valley. A map drawn in 1765 shows that the British returned to Bushy Run after the battle to bury their dead on the hillside where the first day's action took place, but the exact grave site has never been found.
