Martha Adams Runnels was a first lady of Texas and the wife of H.W. Runnels, a member of the Legislature from 1857 to 1859. During those years she and her husband lived in the Governor's Mansion, where she served as the official hostess for her bachelor brother-in-law, Gov. Hardin Richard Runnels.
