Monday Night Football began on September 21, 1970, when the Cleveland Browns faced the New York Jets in ABC-TV's prime-time weeknight debut, launching the phenomenal success of NFL games telecast at night during the week. Created as a digital art mural on August 3, 2018, by artist Jeffrey Keirn, the work was intended to convey the era and the impact of professional football's high-production appeal for a primetime audience while also honoring the pioneering broadcast innovations that helped make it memorable. Monday Night Football is also included among eleven greatest moments in professional football history in a $2.2 million multi-year project placing eleven public artworks in downtown Canton, Ohio.
