James Carrel Bell was born March 1, 1820, and as a young soldier in the Texas War for Independence he entered Bexar on December 5, 1835. John York served as captain of Company D, Eighth Texas Infantry Regiment, C.S.A. Bell died August 4, 1880. His wife, Eliza Baker Bell, was born May 6, 1831, and died October 26, 1906.
