Pygmy (Mini) Goat
Industry
9
The Pygmy goat is a breed of miniature domestic goat kept primarily as a pet, though it also works well as a milk producer and working animal. Quite hardy and able to adapt to virtually all climates, it is an asset in a wide variety of settings. The breed was developed from the West African dwarf goat, found most commonly in the Cameroon Valley. It was taken to Europe primarily by the British during the colonial era, then later imported into the United States from European zoos in the 1950s and eventually acquired by private breeders. It quickly gained popularity because of its good-natured personality, friendliness, and hardy constitution.
