A bear that spent summers in Sawdy Pond became a Tomahawk tourism attraction after Leon Weizenicker adapted a Hamm's beer advertising display from his Lake Ice business by mounting it on an inner tube, adding a fishing pole and can of beer, and placing it in the pond beside the business after George Weizenicker suggested the idea. After it was hit by a boat, Frank Winter of Tomahawk Boat Mg. Co. fiber-glassed it to preserve it. It remained in the water from approximately 1958-1979. After the business was sold, Larry and Kathy Tobin owned the bear, and in 1999 they donated it to Tomahawk Fishing Unlimited. It was often seen in Tomahawk's Fourth of July parades. In June 2018, Tomahawk Fishing Unlimited donated it to the Tomahawk Area Historical Society, where it is on display in the museum, and a replica was created to again spend summers in Sawdy Pond.
