Lasdon Park and Arboretum
Nature
Lasdon Park and Arboretum in Somers, New York, is a 234-acre public park centered on a 30-acre arboretum that grew from the former Cobbling Rock Farm, bought by William and Mildred Lasdon in 1939 and opened by Westchester County in 1986. Shaped by the Lasdons’ horticultural interests, it features formal gardens, woodlands, meadows, notable collections of lilacs, pines, magnolias, dogwoods, and dwarf conifers, and specialized spaces such as the memorial garden, Chinese Friendship Pavilion and Cultural Garden, and bird sanctuary. It also supports American chestnut and dogwood research and includes a veterans museum and memorials honoring local military service.
