Joseph E. Lemos devoted thirty years to Odd Fellowship and service to the youth of the state. He was initiated into Ione Lodge 51 and Ione Rebeka Lodge 270 in 1931, transferred to Yosemite Lodge 97 in 1941 and Big Oak Rebeka Lodge 259 in 1947, and served as District Deputy Grand Master in 1943 and 1958 and District Deputy Grand Marshall in 1948 and 1953. He was appointed Grand Herald of Grand Lodge in 1947 and to the Grand Lodge Youth Committee in 1941 and 1961, was Past Chief Patriarch of Amador Emcampment No.17, transferred to Bald Mountain Encampment No.4 in Sonora in 1944, served as Captain (R) of Sacramento Canton No.1, and instituted Yosemite Lodge No.34 in 1944, Columbia Lodge No.75 in 1948, and Sonora Lodge No. 84 in 1949.
