Pikes Point State Park
Nature
Pikes Point State Park is a small Iowa park on West Okoboji Lake, southwest of Spirit Lake, developed for picnicking, swimming, boating, and fishing. Dedicated in 1931 as Iowa expanded its park system, it was largely shaped in the early 1930s by Civilian Conservation Corps Company 778, which built key features including the shelter, steps, trails, and plantings. Since 1936 it has been administered under Gull Point State Park. Its most significant historic feature is a Rustic-style picnic shelter, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, whose stonework, timber roof, fireplaces, patio, and adjoining stone steps embody the park’s Depression-era design and enduring CCC craftsmanship.
