At this site in April 1977, the Michigan Dept. of Natural Resources purchased the first 45 acres of the St. John's Marsh Project. The money was raised by the Lake St. Clair Advisory Committee and given to the state for the purchase. Two time capsules were placed inside on Aug. 4, 2005.
