History
3
A massive tree once stood on this site and gave Lone Oak its name in 1900. The town had first been known as Pepper's Mill and was renamed to obtain a local post office. The tree was cut down in 1903 and used for a bonfire on Christmas night 1903. The area was originally home to eight families after being formed in 1875.
