Cross Hollows was an early pioneer area associated with Guy and Nell Biggs and is historically significant as Confederate winter quarters in 1861, a Union staging area in 1862 before the Battle of Pea Ridge during the Civil War, part of the Heritage Trail and the Butterfield Stage Coach Route, and a place connected to the Cherokee Trail of Tears.
